• World Pneumonia Day – 11/2/09
  World Pneumonia Day is the first of its kind to focus solely on pneumonia, which kills more children than any other disease, despite the fact that life-saving interventions are available to protect and treat children from the disease.
  
  
• Day of the African Child – June 16, 2009
  More than 5 million children a year are projected to die of largely preventable and treatable causes. In commemoration of the Day of the African Child, USAID released a report titled Two Decades of Progress: USAID’s Child Survival and Maternal Health Program [PDF, 3.9MB].
